Haul Pass

Transportation is often a barrier for Coachella Valley residents seeking education, which is why SunLine Transit Agency developed the Haul Pass program. This program provides free transportation to and from school as well as anywhere students need to go using public transit while enrolled in qualified college and high school institutions in the region.

High School Haul Pass

SunLine provides access to fare free local fixed-route bus services to Coachella Valley high school students in grades 9 -12 through the Agency’s High School Haul Pass program. To participate in the Haul Pass program, you will be required to complete a Haul Pass Application, as well as upload a copy of your valid 2024-2025 high school ID or a printout of your student profile information.

All students must submit an application, regardless of previous enrollment. Students who do not apply for the Haul Pass program by September 30, 2024, will not be eligible to ride the fixed-route services for free. High school IDs will no longer be accepted by bus operators for students to access free rides. To continue utilizing the Haul Pass program for unlimited free rides, students must complete an application. Once the application has been approved, students must download the Token Transit application on their smartphone, and before every boarding, show the bus operators the mobile pass or swipe a 31-Day paper bus pass.

Please submit ONE application per student and allow 7 – 14 business days for processing. DO NOT REAPPLY. Once your application has been processed, you will get a notice with step-by-step instructions on how to access your fare using a smartphone. If you do not have a smartphone, you can still participate in this program by selecting the “No" answer under the "Do you currently have a working smartphone?" option on the High School Haul Pass Student Application.

Please be ready to upload electronic copies of the following:

  • Student's valid 2024 - 2025 high school ID or student school profile which can be obtained from school staff. NO SELFIES will be accepted in lieu of the Student's 2024 - 2025 school ID or the student school profile.

Please be advised that the ONLY documentation acceptable to participate in the High School Haul Pass program is listed above. Any other documentation submitted will NOT be accepted and will automatically lead to the denial of your submission.
