SunLine Transit Agency is looking to fill a par-time Coin Counter position


Under general supervision, performs a variety of routine support and administrative duties in the preparation, processing, and counting of transit revenue fare.


The Coin Counter is an entry-level class responsible for cash handling and processing revenues. 


The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to this class.

1.     Removes, counts, and processes transit fair revenue.

2.     Bags and prepares currency for deposit pick-up by secured transport.

3.     Ensures proper accounting procedures are completed.

4.     Takes and unloads the money from the receiver unit.

5.     Feeds coins into a coin counting machine which counts and bags the coins.

6.     Bundles currency and bags.

7.     Prepares bank deposit slips and secures transport manifest sheet.

8.     Meets the secured transport car for pick-up of deposit.

9.     Must advise Senior Accountant as to inventory needs of supplies used in the count operation.


Performs other duties assigned by immediate supervisor or Accounting Manager.


              Knowledge of:

·         Math and cash handling.

·         Microsoft Office program such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.

       Ability to:

·         Count and sort cash and bills in a fast and accurate manner.

·         Carry and lift bags that may weigh up to 25 lbs.

·         Be organized and detail-oriented.

·         Work well under pressure.

·         Work closely with peers in a team environment.

·         Communicate effectively will all levels of employees.

·         Complete applicable forms

Education, Training and Experience:

       High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this class, employees are regularly required stoop, bend, reach, lift, grasp and stand for long periods of time. Employees must have the ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
