May 7, 2023 Service Change Information
Background
SunLine continues to evolve services in order to enhance the experience for riders, including streamlining its fixed route network and establishing both a new regional line and on-demand rideshare. As SunLine continues to adjust services while offering cutting-edge, zero-emission technology and other clean energy initiatives, a new theme has emerged: SunLine Transit Agency is Your Ride to the Future.
What to expect in May 2023
The changes to the fixed route network aim to provide more frequent service during peak hours for a larger number of routes. All changes listed below are effective May 7, 2023.
Route 1
Route 1 was split into two routes in January, Route 1WV (West Valley) and Route 1EV (East Valley), to improve the reliability of what was formerly a 30-mile route.

Route 1WV
(Palm Desert via Highway 111 Palm Springs)
Note: The route map and accompanying materials will all be marked with a yellow color tone.
Route 1EV
(Coachella via Highway 111 Palm Desert)
Route 1EV extends through the eastern part of the Coachella Valley. Route 1EV starts at the 5th at Vine timepoint and ends at the Town Center at Hahn timepoint by the Palm Desert mall.
Frequency Changes to the Route 1EV
Route 1EV will have a different weekday and weekend schedule.
On weekdays, service will operate every 20 minutes from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. During the off-peak periods, which is the time before 7 a.m. and after 6 p.m., service will operate every 30 minutes.
On weekends, service will operate every 30 minutes all day.
Added Trip to the 1EV
SunLine has added a new eastbound trip, on weekdays and weekends, at 10:17 p.m. so that riders coming from the last trip of the 1WV can transfer to the last 1EV headed East.
Route 2
Frequency Changes to the Route 2
Route 2 will have a different weekday and weekend schedule.
On weekdays, service will operate every 20 minutes from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. During the off-peak periods, which is the time before 9 a.m. and after 5 p.m., service will operate every 40 minutes.
On weekends, service will operate every 30 minutes all day.
SunLine has added a new northbound trip, on weekdays and weekends, at 9:15 p.m.
Route 5
New Transfer Point Location
The Route 5 will now be stopping at the Whole Foods side at Town Center and Hahn. Route 5 will no longer be stopping at the Palm Desert mall side.
Route 6
Frequency Changes to the Route 6
Route 6 will only have a weekday schedule now. There will not be weekend service.
Service will operate every hour from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily during the week.
Route 9
Frequency Changes to the Route 9
Service will operate every hour from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily, seven days a week.
