SunLine Transit Agency Hosts 15th Annual Fill the Bus Food Drive

Nov 17, 2022

SunLine Transit Agency launched its 15th Annual Fill the Bus Holiday Food Drive on Thursday, November 17th from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.  SunLine parked a bus at two grocery store locations – one towards the east end of the Coachella Valley and the other at the west end – which will be filled with donations that will help those in need this holiday season.

The beneficiaries for the 2022 Fill the Bus event are two well-known nonprofit organizations in the area that will distribute the donations locally: Galilee Center and Food Now. SunLine invited the community to help fill the bus with non-perishable food items, turkeys, frozen meats and other assorted trimmings for holiday meals. SunLine also encouraged donations of new, packaged toiletries, personal hygiene products, diapers and other household products.

“SunLine staff and volunteers from our beneficiary organizations will be onsite to accept donations, greet donors, and assist with drop-offs this Thursday, November 17th,” said Lauren Skiver, CEO/General Manager of SunLine Transit Agency. “Fill the Bus collects tons of food and other items each year with the help of our generous local community, and we appreciate how everyone steps up to make the holidays brighter for everyone in the Coachella Valley.”

The locations where the buses will be parked for Fill the Bus are as follows:

  • Walmart: 34-500 Monterey Avenue in Palm Desert
  • Ralphs: 1733 East Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs (the Smoke Tree Village Shopping Center)

This year’s Fill the Bus media partners are KESQ News Channel 3 and Alpha Media. For more information, visit SunLine.org.
